FAQ

I am Feeling Nervous?

Most of our students have admitted to feeling nervous before their first lesson. It is completely normal. They have also said that within the first 5 – 10 mins of that first lesson their nerves had disappeared to be replaced by new friendships and a sense of excitement as to what lay ahead.
What we teach is confidence, empowerment, expression, fitness and we have a whole barrel of fun in the process. You will not be made to do anything you feel uncomfortable with and there is absolutely no nudity.
In addition to getting fit and toned, this is about creating a safe space for women to express themselves without judgement or prejudice whilst spinning around and climbing a pole. So take a deep breath, give it a try and you will never look back.

Im not very strong?

Women of all fitness levels attend our classes but they all have one thing in common – they are much fitter at the end of the course than when they started! No matter how strong you are, swinging and dancing round a pole takes considerable effort and you will find yourself using muscles from top to toe that you never knew existed, so you’ll get naturally stronger and more confident as the weeks progress. As part of the course we also teach core fitness which includes supplementing the classes with optional ‘homework’ exercises that will increase your overall strength and flexibility.

I have no dance experience?

Not many people do, so don’t worry. In our beginners classes you will be taught the very basics of movement and dance so, even if you have three left feet, you will be expressing yourself in your own unique style in a very short space of time and feeling sexy doing it.

Who comes to classes?

Pole ‘n’ Tone classes are about fun, fitness and expression so everyone is welcome and we find that all types of women attend. No matter what your age although you must be over 16, shaper or size, fitness level or reasons for attending you will get out of our classes whatever you want. All we ask is that you come prepared to have a lot of fun!

What should i wear?

Your grip on the pole is essential during classes and your bare skin will give you the most effective grip. We therefore recommend that you wear shorts and a t-shirt or vest to maximise the amount of skin contact with the pole. Trainers or dance shoes work fine (bare feet are fine too) or high heels for extra sexiness.
Please do not use any body lotions, oils or false tan prior to classes as this makes your skin slippery and will prevent any grip on the pole.
We also ask that you don’t wear belts, buckles or ‘dangly’ jewellery to the class because either you or the pole may get scratched.
Most of all you must feel comfortable and if you prefer to wear trousers or tracksuit bottoms and a long sleeved top then that’s fine and we can work with that too.

What should i bring?

Your normal workout gear – shorts, t-shirt, trainers, legwarmers (if you have any), high heels (if ya wanna feel extra sexy).
A towel for mopping your brow when required.
A bottle of water to replace those precious lost beads of sweat.
Your sense of fun!
